Most approaches to astrology ask:

Who are you?

They describe your personality, strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies. They explain why you think the way you do, relate the way you do, and encounter certain recurring patterns in life.

Those insights can be remarkably valuable.

But for the hungry and curious, other questions arise:

How do people grow? What can and cannot be changed? When should I work on what?

Why do some people continue to grow throughout their lives while others remain stuck in the same patterns despite years of insight? Why do certain challenges soften with maturity while others become more entrenched? And why does the same advice transform one person while leaving another untouched?

These are questions about development, not personality.

I’ve been developing a framework that approaches astrology from this perspective. Drawing on Vedic astrology, developmental psychology, systems thinking, and nearly three decades of coaching experience, Developmental Astrology attempts to understand not simply who we are, but how we grow.

This course is the first opportunity to study that framework in depth.

The Chart as Map of Development

In Developmental Astrology, a birth chart is not a fixed description of identity.

It is a map of developmental capacities, challenges, and opportunities.

Rather than asking, “What does this placement mean?” we ask questions like:

  • What developmental tasks is this person likely to encounter?
  • Where is growth likely to come naturally, and where is it likely to require conscious effort?
  • What kinds of misunderstandings tend to keep this person stuck?
  • How can astrology become a practical tool for development rather than merely description?

The result is a way of reading charts that is dynamic rather than static. This is developmental rather than typological.

What You’ll Learn

Over twelve weeks we’ll explore the core ideas behind Developmental Astrology, including:

  • The redefinition of houses, planets, and signs that form the foundation of the model
  • The architecture of the natal chart, including light and shadow expressions of each element
  • Common patterns that interrupt or distort healthy development
  • How to recognize developmental opportunities in real charts
  • How to distinguish personality description from developmental assessment
  • Practical applications for self-understanding, coaching, counseling, and astrology

Each class combines teaching, chart examples, discussion, and opportunities for questions.

Who This Course Is For

This course is designed for thoughtful people who are genuinely interested in human development.

You may be:

  • an astrologer looking for a richer developmental framework
  • a coach or therapist seeking new ways to understand growth and serve clients better
  • a long-time student of psychology or personal development
  • someone who sensed that astrology could offer more than personality descriptions

You do not need previous experience with astrology; in fact, there are benefits to coming with a blank slate.

Curiosity and a willingness to think deeply are more important than prior knowledge.

Why I’m Teaching This

For many years I’ve coached founders, leaders, and individuals through periods of significant personal change. I learned dozens of models and found limits in them all.

Developmental Astrology grew out of a question that shaped my work for decades: what actually helps people change? For much of my life, astrology was not central to that inquiry. I became interested only when I examined both its usefulness and its limitations. Beneath the fatalism, symbolism, and inherited mythology, I found something more dynamic: a map of the human psyche and its developmental possibilities.

This course is not the presentation of a finished model. It’s the introduction to a living framework that continues to evolve through research, observation, and dialogue. I invite rigorous questions, thoughtful skepticism, and active participation.

If you’ve been looking for a model that places human development at its center, I think you’ll find this course both challenging and rewarding.
